About Me

After more than twenty years immersed in my real career of making CGI art for dozens of video game, film, and television projects I discovered the physical, tangible joy of pottery.

This new avenue of expression, one that both contrasts dramatically with my digital endeavors, yet complements them in dedication to craft and sculpting life out of imagination, is a discipline where I can swim between the borders of form and function, envelop myself in the nuances of textures, and appreciate the uniqueness each handmade piece brings.

The intention behind my work is to produce ceramics that invite the beholder to visually and physically engage with an array of details that reveal themselves at every interaction.

With each piece I strive for attention to detail while celebrating the clay's own intentions and the variations that define handcrafted pottery.

Why Buy Handmade

All of my pottery is handmade in a tiny corner of my garage in the coastal town of San Luis Obispo, CA. They’re one-of-a-kind pieces, varying slightly (sometimes more than others) in size, shape and color.

Reducing my carbon footprint is important to me. When purchasing clay and many of my tools and glazes I source locally. The various clays I use are all from a California-based company and purchased from a bulk supplier in town. Some of the clay bodies I use are made with California-sourced clay.

I purchase most of the glazes that I pour, dip, or brush onto my pieces from a bulk supplier in Northern California while only a few are from out of state. I’m very excited that I now fire my work in a kiln at my home where I generate solar energy.

Purchasing any of these handmade ceramics does much good for the community - you participate in supporting the small businesses that supply my materials, you support me, an individual artist promoting and carrying on an age-old tradition, and you also gain a unique piece of functional art that can be enjoyed daily for a long, long time.

Thank you for your contribution to this exciting and often surprising process, where diversity is valued, utility is art, and to partake is to find joy.
